How do I select a Panel QME?

Panel QMEs are obtained by submitting a form (QME 105)to the state.

If you do not have an attorney, please make sure to use the correct form (QME 105). There is a slightly different form for attorneys.

The form asks for details about the injury and the parties involved.

The most important question on the form is “SPECIALTY REQUESTED”.

Certain specialties of doctors (e.g. Orthopedics) are very conservative and tend to write reports that minimize injuries and disability. Other specialties are less conservative (e.g. Pain Medicine) and often more favorable to injures. Selecting the right specialty can make a big difference in the outcome of a Workers’ Compensation Claim. It is advisable to get legal advice from a Workers’ Compensation Attorney about this process. You should not discuss this with the Claims Adjuster.

After the form is submitted to the state, the state will send you a list of three doctors within fifteen days.

You get to pick the doctor from the list of three. Selecting the right specialty can make a big difference in the outcome of a Workers’ Compensation Claim. It is advisable to get legal advice from a Workers’ Compensation Attorney about this process. You should not discuss this with the claims adjuster.
